“3D Landscape” in perfection
The challenging assignment presented by the client and architect was to give the new administrative headquarters of the Hypo NOE Group in the centre of St. Poelten a distinctive appearance. In close cooperation with the Zieser architects‘ office in Vienna, a three-dimensional dune landscape was created using perforated, 3 mm thick aluminium with a newly developed nacreous lacquer finish from HD Wahl. The rigidity of the sun protection slats, which were tested in a wind tunnel, was based on a new technological development: although the design was three-dimensional, we created harmonious fold-backs on all four sides which didn’t interrupt the continuity of the panel interfaces of the 3D Dune landscape but rather contributed to their sustained cohesion. The 10 various, 3 m² large, motor-powered sun protection slats surround the entire structure. They turn the facade into a vivid eye-catcher both for the bank employees on the inside and also for external observers. This assures the employees of the Hypo NOE Group a positive climatic effect and simultaneous outstanding translucence.
